Bathing babies is fun and play
One thing that I don't like about maalishwali's(masseus for babies) bathing style or traditional Indian way is that they don't care for crying baby.
I really don't appreciate babies tears and cries during bathing. If u do not want to see tears in your baby's eyes-
1. make sure its not ur babies nap time or he is hungry.
2. babies cry whn they are held loosely (which is very obvious during bathing as they are not in ur arms),so hold them properly.and securely in ur arm
3. if they crying a lot u can give them sponge bath too on that day.
4. babies usually cry while wiping or cleaning face, so u cud start cleaning fom diaper area then legs and then going up in end.
5 use tear less shampoo and make ur soapy water donot enters baby's eyes and ears.
Where and How to bath newborn?
In India, maalishwali bath babies on stretched legs or ankles .if they don't cry this way than its not a problem, but its difficult for a mother to bend a lot it put strain on mothers back.
The bath can be given in small tub, washbowl,dish pan,kithchen sink or even in a paraat(utensil for kneeding atta).just put some soft towel on it and then place ur baby on it.
Some tubs have sponge cutout to support and position the baby. There are bathers and special bath tubs available too that support babies head and neck . These things are really helpful and cost from Rs 500 to 2000.thou they are not are very costly but still they are waste after some months.(and my article is for mothers who wants to be more economic) Babies can be bathed in bathroom or kitchen(make sure it is warm). for your comfort you can put dish pan or tub on table.
Place that I like most is kitchen sink . and we all have a bath tub there ie sink or wash basin. if ur kitchen sink is neat and clean than why not use it for bathing babies.
Preparation for bath.
Before starting make sure everything u need is handy.dont forget the towel or soap or shampoo. put them first at the spot.
you may wear an apron . and may put cotton in baby's ear .preparing babys water to bath,check the water tempertaure with ur wrist or ur elbow.it should be little warm but not hot.
Lets bath and have funHold ur baby so that her head is supported on ur wrist and the fingers of that hand hold her securely in the armpit.
U can start from cleaning face first, but i prefer soaping diaper area and legs first and then moving upwards and then soping hands and neck. And rinsing it off .finally i wash face in the end with a washcloth .
When scalp(or hair) needs washing ,then soap it first and rinse it off .Soapy water sometimes enter babies eyes during rinsing scalp , it stings and babies cry, so u cud clean scalp with wet wash cloth carefully .
though i never used wash cloth for cleaning scalp,i rinsed babys hair directly with water as she has long hair since birth. if ur little nervous in soaping baby in tub u can soap her in ur lap or table or kitchen counter near sink and then rinse off in tub.
use a big towel put it on one side of ur arm (as u put sari on one side of ur arm) and then grab ur baby,place him there and wrap him with the other side of towel properly.
And remember, donot forget to play and talk while doing all above steps. And see how ur baby wud love to bath .

Especially babies are susceptible to the common cold as they are often around other children who don’t wash their hands always. They also have to develop immunity to many common infections. A common cold is responsible for viral infection of baby’s throat and nose. So it is the responsible of parents to aware all these and takes care of their baby. Baby bath is also essential to keep a baby healthy and away from any skin diseases and health problem. We should be careful about the products use at the time of bath.
